2024 reflections
2024 has personally been a challenging year. However, on reflection I have had many achievements. Here are a few of my personal highlights.
I've spoken at 5 events in 2024. These include Front End Sheffield, A11y North and Sheffield DM. This was one of my personal goals for 2024. After a few years away from public speaking, it was time for me to get back into it. I tackled a range of topics, but I am most proud of getting out there and raising awareness of digital accessibility with people. I'm looking to do more of this in 2025.
Something completely new for 2024: I teamed up with project manager Lucas Tomlinson to plan and run an Evoluted company-wide away day. The day focused on team communications and we made use of original games to help people build on their skills. This was a fun, exhausting and ultimately very rewarding experience. The feedback we received following the event was fantastic; one person said it was the best away day they'd ever attended!
Finally, Street Art Sheffield turned 10 this year. This is a little side project of mine and something I'm very proud of. The website is a celebration of Sheffield's many murals, helping people discover the city's vibrant street art scene. To mark ten years, I ran a poll to discover what people think have been the best and most iconic murals. This was great fun to run, and engagement was much higher than anticipated.
2024 has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. However, looking back it's overall been a good year. I'm looking forward to what new experiences 2025 brings.
