Most social media sites offer various widgets and buttons to place on your site for sharing content. However, they often don’t look good when put side by side; and they often affect the page performance as a result of the increased number of assets that require downloading.
The alternative is to link directly to their share URLs. An instant benefit of this is that you can easily style the links to look as you want, like using icons that look right with your site’s design. Finding these URLs can be a real pain though. I’ve had to hunt them down many times over the years.
I’ve recently been developing a new social share plugin for Textpattern to make it easier to add links for sharing on various social networks. For this I’ve needed to collect various share URLs for the different sites. To help others I’m sharing them here (and for personal future reference). If I’ve missed any (or the URLs are wrong), just leave a comment below.
The URLs are all listed below in alphabetical order. You will just need to replace the parameters in the square brackets with a URL encoded value.
